Jalsa at ALNOOR ISLAMIC CENTER — Community Gathering & Spiritual Programme

Jalsa — A Night of Remembrance & Community

You are warmly invited to the ALNOOR ISLAMIC CENTER Jalsa — an evening of spiritual reflection, Quran recitation, inspiring talks and community fellowship for families across Ivorypark, Tembisa and Winnie Mandela.

What is the Jalsa?

The Jalsa is a community gathering designed to bring people together to remember Allah, strengthen faith, and build bonds between neighbours. The programme typically includes Quran recitation, brief talks (bayans) by respected speakers, nasheeds, communal duas, and time for reflection. It is suitable for men, women and children — all are welcome to attend in a spirit of respect and unity.

Below is an example schedule. Exact times and speakers will be announced ahead of the event.

Who Should Attend?

The Jalsa is for everyone — families, youth, elders and newcomers. We ask attendees to dress modestly and maintain a respectful atmosphere during recitation and talks. Children are encouraged to attend with their parents; we usually provide a small, supervised children’s area for younger kids.

Speakers & Volunteers

Our speakers are community teachers and invited guests who speak from the Qur'an and Sunnah with practical guidance for family life, youth, and community service. Volunteers are essential to running the Jalsa: they help with setup, registration, seating, refreshments and crowd management. If you would like to speak or volunteer, please contact us in advance.

Health, Safety & Accessibility

ALNOOR is committed to a safe and welcoming environment. Seating is arranged to allow comfortable movement, and accessible seating is available for elderly or differently-abled attendees. Children should be supervised at all times. We also encourage good hygiene practices; hand-washing stations and sanitiser will be available.
